Happy Friday, friends! Today is an exciting one for me professionally, because I get to be a part of my first seasonal photo shoot. Anna and I are heading up north for the day to capture images for social, which will be a nice way to kick off the weekend! I am really welcoming the distraction after a really tough week. One of my cats got sick and passed away earlier in the week and I am absolutely devastated. We got him when I was in 7th grade, so he’s been around for half of my life. Living so far away from home has been weighing especially heavy on me lately, since I couldn’t go home to say goodbye and had to settle for Facetime. Being a grown up is hard.
Speaking of distractions, let’s talk fashion! During fall in particular, I find that many of my outfits transition seamlessly from work to weekend. In summer, I usually change into shorts or an off-the-shoulder top after hours, but my fall outfits tend to work for both. Luckily, I work in a pretty casual environment — jeans, backless shoes and tees are all acceptable. I love it — it makes getting dressed for work SO much easier! My latest go-to outfit for fall is a button-down, dark jeans and mule slides. It’s simple, effortless and so chic! It’s crazy how tossing on a pair of mules can immediately make your outfit so sophisticated. Middle of September is about the time I start changing my wardrobe palette. With my pale skin, I thrive in jewel tones, so wearing olive, burgundy and plum for six months doesn’t bother me! Recently I picked up this utility shirt from Banana Republic and fell in love! It’s extremely versatile and can be worn open over a tee or alone as a shirt. This week I paired it with my favorite jeans of all time — Gap’s Sculpt Denim — incredibly affordable mule slides and my trusty saddle bag. This look is made for Fridays at the office turned drinks after hours.
