Hey there! It’s Fri-yay, friends! I have an exciting weekend ahead of me. Autumn has her second week of “school” on Saturday, I’m getting Galentine’s Day brunch on Sunday with a few girlfriends and I’m going to squeeze in a few yoga sessions. Life has been a little more hectic (okay, a lot more) since getting a puppy, but it’s been a great experience for Brian and I to have together. This year is definitely going to have a lot of adventures and I personally can’t wait!
Unless you live under a rock, you’re well aware that velvet was the hottest trend this winter. From tops, dresses, leggings, shoes and accessories, just about everything you wear could be decked out in this soft fabric. I’ve had a lot of my friends ask me if velvet can only be worn in the winter or if it’s okay in the spring, too. I originally identified velvet as a winter only fabric, but my recent velvet leggings purchase changed my mind.
Velvet can be a chic transition style in moving your wardrobe from winter to spring if you style it with the right pieces. The key is to dress it down more casually to make it spring-appropriate. Pair your velvet leggings with a denim jacket or chambray shirt. Denim is a great way to dress down your velvet, while still looking polished. I wore my favorite fitted denim jacket, white button-down top and suede loafers when it popped up into the 40°s the other weekend. An embellished hairbow and leather crossbody make this look work or weekend friendly.
