Happy Friday! It’s been an unusually chilly August so far, with temperatures feeling a lot more like fall than summer. Honestly, I’m not upset about it since it’s no secret that fall is my favorite season! As the temps have dropped, I’ve been cooling it on the summer vibes (pun TOTALLY intended) and shifting my wardrobe into fall. For these in between months when it still isn’t full-blown fall, I use color and accessories to start the transition. I’m not totally ready for jewel tones yet (give me, like, two weeks), so it’s a lot of neutrals until September hits.
I recently picked up this striped shift dress at LOFT and it was love at first sight. Everyone knows I’m a huge stripe collector, so this dress would be at home in my closet year-round. Here’s the kicker — they only had one left and it was a size petite XXS (AKA – the tinest size ever made), yet somehow, it fit. I’m definitely not petite with my 5’9″ frame and my hips haven’t allowed for an XXS in over a decade. The sizing must be way off, because it definitely fit. If you’re a tall gal like me, don’t be afraid to try the petite for a flirty, shorter length (that’s still appropriate).
I love this dress paired with tan mules, a neutral clutch and statement sunglasses. I added hot pink lipstick since it is still summer, after all.
