Hello there! Yesterday, I bid adieu to 2017 sharing my favorite moments and where I landed on my goals (you can catch up here). Today, I’m ready to start the next chapter. 2017 was all about becoming a better version of myself, rather than big life changes. I focused on improving my health, fitness routine and overall organization. I decided to go all in on this blog and spent a great deal of time creating a space for you all to go to feel inspired, learn something and maybe laugh a little. 2018 is going to be a continuation of that story.
Although I went a little overboard on my sheer number of goals in 2017, overall it did work. I have never eaten so healthy! Sweet potatoes became a mainstay in my diet and I cut back on my beloved grains immensely. We cut back to ice cream only twice a month and sweets only three times a week. Coming from the girl who had 1/4 pint of Ben & Jerry’s every night before bed, this was HUGE. I’ve also never been stronger. I’ve been able to go deeper into my yoga practice and learn more about my body. I started to incorporate full body workouts at least twice a week in addition to cardio and yoga, and I’m starting to see results!
This year, I’m going to simplify. I’m going to continue most of my 2017 goals, as they’re an integral part of my healthier lifestyle now. Rather than setting annual goals, I’m planning to take it month by month. This will allow me to have better focus and adjust accordingly each month as life changes. I’m really looking forward to this new monthly approach, as it will allow for a little more grace. This past year, I fell off the wagon on my sweets and workout goals a few times and got super discouraged (hello, Vera Bradley Outlet Sale week). Since I had already been doing so poorly for a few weeks, it was hard to get back into my routine. By reevaluating each month, I’m allowing for a new start if I do happen to stray by the month’s end.
Here are a few of the highlights of January’s goals…
Read 15 minutes a day at least 5 days a week
Work out at least 3x each week
Eliminate added sugars for the first two weeks of the month, then only have 3 sweets servings a week
Follow along all year by signing up for my weekly newsletter!
I also have blog related goals, including posting at least three times a week. I’m committing to bringing you better content, more frequently. With that said, I want to hear from you! If you haven’t taken my reader survey yet, please do! Any ideas, requests or input at all will be highly appreciated! You can take the quick ten minute survey here.

Until next time —
