How is it already Monday again? Last week went by SO quickly and I have another busy week ahead. I’m actually heading to Chicago (again) this weekend to meet up with my fam for a mini family vacay. I’m so excited to have my family all together again (for the first time since Christmas) for some adventures around the city. But more on that later…
I’m fresh off a trip to Chicago for a work event. Traveling for work can be downright exhausting and this was no different — but this time, I had such a blast it was hard to notice how tired I was. Vera Bradley is a sponsor of The Blog Societies conference each year, but this was my first year I got to go to be a part of the event! I was super excited about this work trip since it would be great for me both professionally and personally. I was so anxious to meet up with some of my blogger friends and network with badass ladies I hadn’t met before.
Wednesday afternoon, my co-worker Jenna and I drove up to the city. We stayed downtown, right off of Michigan Avenue, so we immediately dropped our things at the hotel and began exploring the area. That evening, we met up with 3 of my blogger girlfriends for dinner — Katie of Little Black Blog, Sarah of The Kissing Booth and Maya of Charmingly Styled. We went to The Hampton Social (AKA – the beloved River North restaurant with the iconic Rosé All Day wall) and I could barely contain my excitement. The Hampton Social is one of the most insta-worthy places in Chicago, so I was ecstatic to finally go with my girls. We had the best time and I’m dying to go back. If you ever make it there, definitely order the frosé all day to drink. Katie and I would both recommend the gnocchi and margherita pizza for your entrée.
Thursday was the day of one million calories. It started with breakfast at Eggsperience, followed by lunch at Shake Shack and two rounds of dinner (but more on that in a second). We had some time to kill in the morning, so we walked down Michigan Avenue and hit up Gap’s Friends & Family event — hello, 50% EVERYTHING! I definitely did some damage and picked up some fall transition pieces that I’ll share next week. That afternoon, we headed to Sugar Factory to set up for our event. Vera Bradley hosted The Blog Societies Conference’s welcome party, so Jenna and I spent the afternoon getting prepped. After quickly getting ready ourselves, we spent the evening mingling with 75 kick-ass bloggers while snacking on delicious apps and sugary treats. As if that wasn’t hard enough on my stomach, we grabbed a late dinner with four more bloggers afterward at Joe’s. Woof. I felt pretty awful from all the food, but had such a great day!
Friday was another busy day, starting with set-up at the gifting suite at TBSCon. After setting up, we grabbed lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and headed back to The W Hotel to network with the girls for the afternoon. After making some great connections (and making it rain VB product), we packed up and headed home. It was such a fun trip that I was lucky enough to do for work. I met so many amazing ladies and can’t wait to go back next year!
Until next time —
